Real Estate Attorney - Remote

The Real Estate Attorney (a) negotiates, reviews, and drafts real estate and related contracts (i.e., retail leases, SNDAs, license agreements), and (b) provides business-oriented legal advice to the real estate and facilities teams. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, critical-thinking, tech-savvy professional who takes initiative, enjoys problem solving, focuses on solutions, and thinks outside-the-box.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, review, negotiate, and interpret retail real estate leases, amendments, SNDAs, license agreements and other real estate and corporate documents and agreements.
  • Provide legal/business advice regarding the company’s real estate transactions (primarily retail leasing).
  • Assist with guiding the in-house real estate team through the various stages of the retail leasing process, including collaboration, strategy, cost analysis, contract negotiation and contract execution.
  • Communication of ongoing project prioritization with supervisors, team members and business partners.
  • Manage multiple projects and internal clients under tight deadlines.
  • Manage outside counsel in complex transactional real estate related matters.
  • Participate in and assist with the resolution of real estate related contract or transaction disputes.

RequirementsJob Qualifications – Education And Experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a top tier law school and licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • 3+ years of real estate transactional experience (with an emphasis on negotiating retail leases) in a law firm or in-house role with an established company.
  • Strong understanding of title and title review.

  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. Sound business judgment. Able to develop solutions and compromises when faced with complex problems or difficult positions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the company (including senior management) and with external vendors and legal counsel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, without close supervision, and with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Ability to take direction as well as to resolve issues independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with peers and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office application suite, especially with Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements

General office environment requiring ability to:

  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
  • Speak and listen to others on video conferencing and over the phone
  • Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
  • Lift up to 15 lbs

The anticipated salary range for this position is $127,500 – $191,300 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
