Position Overview:

Are you someone who loves complex transactions and legal issues involved with sophisticated technology and licensing? Do you want your work to be meaningful and make an impact in the housing industry? We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented attorney to participate the analysis, drafting and negotiation of transaction and policy documents in structured mortgage and insurance-related transactions, as well as experience with technology and licensing related to product development. In that context, the Single-Family Real Estate Department in the Legal Division of Freddie Mac is seeking a motivated and client-focused attorney to join its legal staff.

Our Impact:

The attorney will be part of the single-family mortgage operations and technology group, primarily working with the insurance-based credit risk transfer business area, and providing counsel related to technology licensing and related matters. This group is part of the SF Real Estate Department in the company’s Legal Division, which provides all-around legal support and advice to the Single Family Business area of the company, covering all aspects of residential mortgage underwriting, purchase, delivery, servicing and risk mitigation.

Your Impact:

  • Advisory support to internal clients regarding licensing new software and related products for use in selling or servicing mortgages Freddie Mac

  • Negotiate and document insurance-based credit risk transfer transactions, including development of novel risk transfer structures and tools

  • Understand Freddie Mac’s Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide (including knowledge of representations, warranties, covenants and legal remedies)

Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of relevant sophisticated legal experience, either in-house with a bank, mortgage company or real estate company, or with a law firm

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree; membership in good standing in a state Bar

  • Excellent analytical, strategic, legal research, writing and advocacy skills

  • Ability to effectively handle numerous issues across multiple areas and to set priorities independently

  • Experience working with issues pertaining to E-Mortgages, E-Notes, and MERs

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $228,000 - $342,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
