Job Summary

The Legal Operations Manager manages the legal department’s global operational budget and all legal cost centers, partnering with Legal Leaders and FP&A on budgeting, tracking, reporting and audit. The incumbent will negotiate, implement, monitor, maintain and audit all third-party legal department system, subscriptions, and services. The incumbent will also handle the legal department invoice management, working with the firms / vendors, Supplier Registration team, AP and internal legal department staff on billing policies and guidelines, systems technical support, systems upgrades, access and auditing and month- and year-end budgets and accruals. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the global operational budget for the legal department and all legal-owned cost centers.
  • Partners with FP&A on budgeting, tracking, reporting and audit.
  • Manages, negotiates, implements, and audits all the legal department third-party subscriptions for database accesses, continuing education, and research tools. Negotiates terms with the vendors, sets license numbers, reviews proposals, audits the systems, serves as the systems admins for all legal systems.
  • Manages the legal department invoicing process, acting as the Legal Tracker System Administrator that pays all of global vendors, working with global internal attorneys and law firms, setting billing guidelines, ensures compliance with these policies, trains staff and law firms, audits billing issues, works with IT on all systems updates and upgrades, deals with vendor on all systems issues, contract issues, fixes all invoicing issues, meets with AP to address all invoicing concerns. Handles all month- and year-end budgets, forecasting and accruals.
  • Manages and supports new firm and supplier onboarding while partnering with Supplier Registration team.
  • Assists with other legal support as work requires.
 

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in paralegal studies, accounting, business, administration, or another relevant field.

 

Experience:

  • 4+ years of working in a corporate legal department or relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in legal billing environment required, working with Legal Tracker billing system preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and languages a plus.

 

Essential Skills:

A successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail; strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a team environment; strong customer service orientation and oral and written communication skills; and proficiency in MS Office

 

Must have 

  • Strong skills in electronic billing across a wide variety of client e-billing systems.
  • Technical skills to manage multiple legal systems, Microsoft Office suite products, Practical Law, Legal Tracker, other legal systems.
  • Proficient with budgeting, billing, invoices, and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent communicator across multiple languages and cultures.
  • Flexible to working across global time zones to support all MoneyGram offices and locations.

 

Posting details: 

Anticipated Base Performance Pay: $65,700-$75,000 (Bonus Target available for this role)
