** **Job Summary

** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Legal Operations to join our company. As a member of the Executive Legal Team, the Legal Operations Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing all operational aspects of the legal department. The Legal Operations Director will support the Chief Legal Officer and play a critical role in optimizing the legal department’s operations, ensuring efficient delivery of legal services, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and leadership skills, and a solid understanding of legal processes, finance, technology, and data analytics.

**Job Responsibilities

**

  • Identify, oversee and partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful execution of legal projects and strategic priorities. Create business model case for initiatives as needed
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to streamline workflows
  • Collaborate with members of the legal team as well as leaders in other departments related to legal department initiatives
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on legal department performance, initiatives, and improvements.
  • Evaluate department processes and technology
  • Identify and implement process improvement as well as legal technology solutions to optimize operations
  • Train staff on effective use of legal software and tools
  • Stay abreast of latest technology developments
  • Oversee billing and invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to billing guidelines and engage with outside counsel and vendors, technology and legal service providers regarding same
  • Identify and implement metrics for the legal department such as measuring claims’ handling and litigation management and evaluate and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency and cost reduction
  • Facilitate performance reviews of vendors and law firms
  • Structure, gather and analyze and report on relevant legal data
  • Identify and implement methods to improve department efficiency and productivity, including use of data analytics

**Qualifications/Skills

**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance or related field. Juris Doctor is a plus
  • Proven experience in legal operations, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of legal department processes, technology, and best practices
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency in legal software, document management systems, e-billing platforms, and other legal technology tools
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Innovative and creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and effectively collaborate and influence with stakeholders at all levels in and outside legal department
  • Ability to effectively create and deliver reports and PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align legal operations with overall business objectives
