Marsh McLennan’s Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs (LCPA) department promotes a culture in which ethical, lawful, and risk mindful behavior is encouraged and reinforced.  We are looking for a commercially oriented in-house counsel to support the corporate legal needs of its Marsh and Mercer businesses. The position will report to a Senior Assistant General Counsel who is located at the Company’s headquarters in New York.

We will count on you to:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to various levels of Company management on a broad range of Marsh’s insurance broking and risk advisory businesses, MMC’s managing general agency business, and Mercer’s health business in the US.
  • Handle the drafting, review and negotiation of a wide range of contracts, including domestic and global client services agreements, RFPs with prospective clients, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, insurer agreements, vendor agreements and technology contracts.
  • Support the business in developing, drafting and negotiating strategic alliance agreements, joint marketing agreements and referral agreements with third parties, including in the insurance, health, cyber and technology space.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the Company’s innovation initiatives as the business seeks to develop new products and solutions.

What you'll need to have:

  • Admitted to the bar in New York or in the location where the position will be based. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department, including providing client advice and transactional support and working with client service agreements.

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $124,400 to $248,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
