Responsibilities

Karen D. Wood & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, seeks a paralegal with 2+ years of civil litigation experience to join our San Diego, CA office.  Qualified candidates will have the ability to assist attorneys in every aspect of managing a fast-paced litigation docket, including drafting discovery, trial preparation, medical record summaries, and assisting in motion writing at the direction of attorney. We provide a congenial, team-oriented professional work environment with skilled support staff. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package which includes 401K.

Potential salary range: $60,000.00-$95,000.00

Potential yearly incentive pay up to 10% of base salary

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of recent experience in civil litigation practice preferably in insurance defense
  • Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate required
  • Demonstrated legal knowledge in the practice of litigation and/or conducting of discovery in California
  • Familiarity with Court Rules and Procedures
  • Ability to work autonomously while being a member of a cohesive team
  • Strong computer skills and experience working in an electronic/digital environment in particular Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Candidates must meet the California Business & Professions Code §6450 for paralegals requirements.

HYBRID work environment:  Qualified candidates should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment
