Manager, Legal Counsel Employment Law (Hybrid)

JOB SUMMARY
This attorney will primarily work with Charter’s Spectrum Enterprise and Spectrum Business sales teams and other internal stakeholders to negotiate commercial and government sales contracts, as well as to provide legal advice and guidance to internal management.  

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide legal support for customer-facing activities such as negotiating Master Service Agreements, Right of Entry Agreements, Value Added Reseller Agreements, Request For Proposals, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and other customer-related agreements and customer life cycle issues.
  • Advise sales and business teams on matters of contract interpretation and contract disputes. 
  • Draft and revise contract templates and other legal documents with an aim of continuous improvement.
  • Research, analyze and stay informed regarding relevant statutes, regulations, case law and proposed legislation relevant to commercial and government contracts to ensure appropriate risk management.  
  • Work with other in-house counsel, and judiciously manage outside counsel on customer-related issues that require subject matter expertise.
  • Work closely to provide support and guidance to contract managers who are part of the legal team.
  • Perform other legal duties and special projects as assigned from time to time.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Must be proactive and have the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting 
  • Must possess elevated leadership skills and strong attention to detail
  • 3 to 5 years experience with complex commercial negotiations in a commercial and/or government setting, including strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge and experience with counseling a sales organization that works on a demanding timeline
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in person, in writing and by telephone, with a variety of deal participants, including opposing counsel, senior management and business associates
  • Ability to work effectively, sometimes under pressure, in a fun but fast-paced team setting


EDUCATION

  • Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier law school
  • Active State Bar Membership in good standing, plus the ability to be licensed to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction

RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience (preferably with a large law firm and/or in-house work)

As a talented writer with an aptitude for highly efficient communications, you will be primarily responsible for effective handling of employment-related, administrative claims pending with federal and state agencies, including developing strategy, conducting investigations, preparing responses to claims, and attending evidentiary hearings.  You are someone who enjoys persuasive writing, staying current on employment law developments and supporting our team in providing clients with practical guidance.  The position requires excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Keeping informed of industry-specific regulations

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Admission to State Bar in which Attorney practices

Related Work Experience
1+ years experience in general business legal issues
