Under California Government Code Section 14200, this position is eligible for hybrid telework and may be eligible for full-time remote work in some circumstances and/or time-periods, at the sole discretion of the Department. Telework-eligible applicants must reside in California. Headquarter location will be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location. This is subject to change if HCD's criteria is met.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Chief Counsel and in coordination with and guidance from lead attorney(s), the incumbent in this position will primarily serve the Human Resources Branch (HRB), the Codes and Standards Division (CSD), and the Equal Employment Office (EEO). The incumbent advises these various divisions and branches, both orally and in written opinions, and represents the Department in formal administrative law actions, informal hearings and depositions, and assists the Office of the Attorney General in representing the Department in civil litigation. This position requires significant independence and skills in administrative law, employment law, housing law and civil litigation.
