Renewable Energy Associate Attorney (Debt Project Finance)

Locations - Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C, or San Diego

We are seeking multiple talented and motivated Mid to senior Level Associates to join our client, one of the largest global law firm's Renewable Energy Practice.

As a senior Associate, you will play a key role in providing legal support and guidance on transactional matters related to renewable energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and energy storage projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge clients in one of the largest and most prolific energy, infrastructure and natural resources teams of any law firm in the world.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel on all aspects of project finance transactions (more specifically, Debt financing) for renewable energy projects.
  • Oversee alternative and renewable energy transactions involving debt equity financings,
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential renewable energy projects, assessing financial and legal risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating complex project finance transactions from inception to closing.
  • Work closely with clients, internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless execution of deals.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, EPC contracts, and other project-related documentation.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on project finance matters. Understand their business objectives and provide strategic legal solutions to meet their goals.
  • Mentor and supervise junior associates, providing guidance and fostering their professional growth within the Renewable Energy Practice

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

  • Juris Doctor (or LLB) from accredited law school
  • 3 - 10 years of experience in project finance, preferably with a focus on renewable energy projects.
  • In-house or law firm experience
  • Extensive experience representing power producers and investors in debt equity and leasing structures in the wind, solar, and renewable fuels industries
  • Extensive knowledge of project finance structures and documentation
  • Strong understanding of the renewable energy industry, including regulatory frameworks, incentives, and financing models
