_ Position Description

Reporting into the General Counsel, the Counsel will support the Federation in managing the legal affairs of the United States Soccer Federation, Inc.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Representing U.S. Soccer in its contract negotiations, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating event agreements, sponsorships, licenses, media, consulting agreements, master services agreements, and the like.
  • Supporting the business units in legal matters in support of all aspects of competition including WC’26 and WWC ‘27.
  • Supporting General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer on a variety of legal matters including litigation support, governance, membership, and compliance
  • Guiding, counseling, and supporting the work of junior colleagues (e.g., paralegals and interns).

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Minimum two to five years’ experience working as an attorney; preferably with some private firm experience.
  • Experience with transactional legal work in commercial transactions.

  • Experience with contract negotiation preferred
  • Ability to work independently, while coordinating and communicating with other members of the legal/compliance team throughout the process

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite as it relates to legal documents (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
