Energizer is seeking an experienced and motivated Counsel, Global Product Supply, who will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a wide range of matters facing a consumer products company, globally. This role will report to the Associate General Counsel, Global Product Supply, Operations and Human Resources.

Counsel will interact with and provide support primarily to the following functions (with expansion into other areas as needed): Procurement, Supply Chain, and Environmental. This is a strong growth opportunity for an enterprising lawyer looking to join a fast-paced and dynamic team.

Responsibilities

This role will primarily support Direct Procurement, Supply Chain, and SHEA (Safety, Health, and Environmental Affairs), but will also serve as a generalist. This position is expected to be a key business partner and to contribute to the success of the Company by combining both legal and business expertise to understand Energizer’s operations and strategic goals.

This attorney will be expected to work effectively across internal legal and non-legal functions. This role requires a mature individual who can fight fires as needed and provide practical legal advice that supports business objectives. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide legal support to the Direct Procurement, Supply Chain, and Environmental functions
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and review various complex direct procurement contracts, including logistics, supply chain and related agreements
  • Consult with senior leaders to proactively issue-spot, provide advice on risks, and drive practical business solutions to complex supply chain disruption issues
  • Support the business’s digital transformation efforts by automating the procurement process with tools and playbooks; assist in implementing a contract lifecycle management tool
  • Provide legal support to the environmental team in land sales, agency interactions, remediation activities, and reporting requirements
  • Advise on environmental issues related to M&A activity
  • Respond to a wide-range of legal inquiries from internal stakeholders, focusing on understanding their needs, providing practical solutions and effectively managing risk
  • Willingness and interest in handling various legal matters, even if they fall outside day-to-day responsibilities

What we are looking for

  • Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited institution
  • Member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience at a large law firm or as in-house counsel in a similar capacity
  • Ability to work as an impactful business partner in a dynamic environment by giving reasoned balanced legal advice that is understandable to the business
  • Strong analytical, writing and communication/presentation skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a matrix management structure
