Join a dynamic and multi-state law firm on the cutting edge of legal services. We are currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for an immediate full-time position in our Rocky Hill, CT office. This role offers a hybrid remote work arrangement, with a minimum of three (3) days spent in the office. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team in insurance coverage and general litigation. Drafting pleadings, discovery demands/responses, motions, subpoenas, settlement documents, etc.

E-filing knowledge to assist with legal filings in State and Federal Courts

Maintaining client confidentiality and protecting operations by handling information discreetly

Effective communication with courts, clients, experts, opposing counsel, and co-defendants as needed

Opening and closing files, processing expense reports, and proofreading materials for accuracy

Managing court deadlines, scanning, saving, and filing documents

Reviewing/Preparing correspondence and handling travel arrangements for attorneys

Assisting with calendar/scheduling when needed and providing backup to other attorneys

Recording and storing client information

Required Skills/Qualifications

Associate degree or higher preferred

3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new programs and systems

Experience in insurance defense litigation and general litigation

Comprehensive understanding of the civil litigation process in Connecticut

Knowledge of State and Federal Court E-Filing

Strong keyboarding skills

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

Ability to multi-task, attention to detail, excellent communication, and organizational skills

Proven ability to anticipate schedules and deadlines, moving projects forward

Exemplary planning and time management skills

Flexibility to work under deadlines and meet unforeseen demands

Experience reviewing medical records for litigation is a plus

Compensation And Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience and skill set. The position offers a competitive hourly rate, along with benefits such as health, life, short-term and long-term disability, 401k, flexible work arrangements, and paid time off.

For New York City Applicants

Salary range: $18.00 - $40.00/hr. ($37,440.00 - $83,200.00), plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The anticipated salary range is for candidates who will work in New York City. The salary offered will depend upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Our firm is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
