As an Attorney at Homestead, you will be involved in all aspects of residential real estate closings, from title examinations and document preparation, to customer closings and title insurance policies. These Skills Will Be Used To

  • perform and review title examinations, including researching property records, deeds, encumbrances, plats and tax information.
  • resolve challenging title issues to ensure quality of title.
  • prepare legal documents, including deeds, powers of attorney, memoranda, affidavits, closing disclosures, settlement statements and other conveyance documents.
  • review and approve deeds, mortgages and other legal documents to ensure compliance with recording requirements.
  • review title commitments and final title insurance policies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • process customer files to prepare for closings.
  • conduct customer closings with a focus upon accurate work-product and exceptional customer experience.
  • train, lead and motivate team members to ensure accurate work produce and risk mitigation.
  • manage a workload in several states.
  • become proficient in state-specific insurance regulations, case law and local practices.
  • comply with state-specific insurance underwriter standards and best practices.
  • actively survey state-specific insurance and real estate regulations, case law and trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Kentucky, or prepared to become licensed upon employment.
  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study.
  • Experience in residential real estate transactions, or passion to learn same.
