About the Role:

We’re looking for an exceptional attorney to support product development for several of Uber’s biggest growth delivery businesses, from Grocery and Retail to Direct delivery. The Delivery Legal team takes on novel challenges, offering strategic counsel to Product, Engineering and Operations teams as new features, entire lines of business, and critical partner and merchant integrations are introduced on the Uber platform across the globe. What You’ll Do

  • Lead legal reviews of new products and features, and coordinate global reviews with regional legal teams, positioning these products/features to reduce risk from the early stages of product development through launch.
  • Uber runs a customer-facing grocery, retail and convenience marketplace under the Uber Eats brand, and a complementary business that provides delivery as a service to enterprise merchants. You will provide critical and proactive legal and strategic feedback on a wide range of sophisticated and strategic issues., resolving a wide-range of issues, including consumer protection, privacy, data security, transactional and commercial law, litigation risk, intellectual property, licensing, and antitrust.
  • Be an active and trusted business partner, and ensure the provision of timely, business-focussed advice to the Delivery business.
  • Draft terms and conditions, FAQs, legal disclaimers, and other policies governing the use of Uber products and services.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house OR Minimum 4 years, including +1 year Uber internal.
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with global marketplaces, with a particular focus on delivery and platform services, and experience reconciling regulatory requirements for product builds that launch across multiple global markets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and cross-functional partners, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
  • Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead.
  • Passionate about your work and a desire to have a big impact.
  • Self-motivation with a strong affinity for vision setting, strategic problem solving, and driving action.
  • Excellent business judgment and great communication skills.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$195,000 per year - USD$216,500 per year.
