Shockwave Medical, Inc. is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Shockwave Medical aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.

Description

This attorney will be the first employment legal hire and will report to the Deputy General Counsel. The Senior Counsel will serve as a key advisor to the company’s human resources, executives and employees. They will be the lead attorney at the company to provide counsel on all facets of employment law, including global employment matters.

Responsibilities

• Advising the company’s HR team, managers, senior leadership, and other stakeholders on compliance with employment laws and regulations, supporting hiring initiatives and providing advice on ad hoc questions as they arise.
• Supporting and coordinating outside counsel on global employment matters.
• Developing, improving, and implementing forms, policies, plans, and practices.
• Staying on top of employment-related legal developments and engaging proactively to drive compliance, conduct trainings, and implement other risk-mitigating strategies.
• Reviewing and drafting contracts and various employment documentation.
• Managing the company’s representation in employment-related litigation, claims and investigations, and managing outside counsel involved in that work.

Requirements

• 10+ years of employment law experience preferred – including counseling and litigation.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Experience in the context of life sciences, healthcare, or medical devices is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong communication and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively and proactively provide quick, concise, and practical legal advice.

Market Range: $250,000 - $270,000

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
