Resource Energy (RES) provides highly customized energy procurement and energy use and data management solutions to many of the world’s largest commercial real estate companies as well as commercial and industrial businesses. At RES, we develop and implement energy strategies that reduce expenses, minimize, and manage risk, leverage our experience and data to optimize energy use and manage greenhouse gas emissions, report on best practices in sustainability as well as generate profitable revenue streams for our clients. These strategies include power and gas procurement, energy data collection and calculations, sustainability analysis/reporting and multiple other energy related services.

The opportunity entails joining a growing in-house Legal team in a Corporate Attorney role at a highly successful, entrepreneurial company. The Corporate Attorney will work closely with our General Counsel and the Legal team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements. The Corporate Attorney will also be engaged in legal research in several different areas.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review contracts between the company and its customers and vendors, including drafting and negotiating key provisions in such contracts.
  • Prepare compliance reports to ensure adherence to regulations set by various regulatory agencies.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the company.
  • Provide research and related support to assist General Counsel and the Legal team with diverse contractual issues and regulatory matters.
  • Analyze legal precedents, statutes, and regulations to assist in decision-making.
  • Assist, as needed, with litigation and coordinate litigation process with outside counsel.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support the litigation strategy.
  • Ensure that all legal documents comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Work proactively to prevent legal issues and disputes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments, offering legal insights and guidance.
  • Work as part of a legal team to achieve the organization's legal objectives.
  • Handles such other legal matters and duties, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with two to five years minimum of law firm and/or in-house experience focused on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong research, writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with a team as well as independently.
  • Self-starter with the ability to provide proactive, accurate and effective legal support.
  • Ability to move agreements forward quickly to meet critical business objectives in a fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable environment.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, business sense, and attention to detail.
