Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking a transactional attorney with at least two years of experience for NextEra’s investments group to work on venture capital investments, fund investments, other equity investments and the drafting and negotiation of related strategic rights that the group manages. The preferred candidate will have experience in representing investors in venture capital investments and experience negotiating LP investments in funds. The applicant must be a team player with a demonstrated commercial acumen who relates well with clients, management, and counterparties and who can thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Employees in this job will participate in complex legal matters and projects and deliver timely and quality legal services to clients with minimal supervision. The Employee In This Position Is Expected To

  • Support the Nextera Energy Investments team by drafting, reviewing and negotiating term sheets, financing documentation and NDAs, and reviewing and advising on portfolio company actions
  • Draft and negotiate strategic rights agreements and other commercial agreements alongside investments
  • Manage and direct outside counsel, monitor portfolio company activity, review, negotiate and monitor LP investments in funds, and work closely with the finance and accounting team on reporting and monitoring terms of the investments made
