TITLE: PERM: New Mexico Based - Legal Counsel/Hybrid

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible to provide legal counsel as part of client's global legal team and to work closely with Client’s senior US legal counsel.

Responsibilities include local support at the Eunice, NM site for legal needs with a focus on human resources, procurement support and other operational and regulatory matters.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited law school, 5 - 10 years of experience and an active New Mexico state bar certification/membership.

  • Strong client counseling skills on legal and business issues with capacity to propose legal and ethical solutions to meet business needs
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to demonstrate sound judgement even in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, matrix management work environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate successfully with attorneys, in-house client groups, senior management and outside parties

Job Details

  • The work location for this position is Urenco USA, Eunice, NM - Hybrid - 50/50
  • Work Schedule: Professional work schedule/ with minimal night/ weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed
  • Travel Required: 20% of the time or less as required
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level security clearance is required
  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.

Primary Functions

  • Provide advice and counsel on a wide variety of legal matters involving many different practice areas, including employment related issues, transactional support for procurement, environmental, and real estate
  • Provide legal advice related to federal or state regulations or laws affecting the company and its business operations
  • Implement and advise on legal best practices for the company
  • Maintain working knowledge of and provide analysis and advice related to proposed and existing statutes and regulations affecting the organization
  • Advise and review various agreements and/or contracts pertaining to company business
  • Interface with external legal counsel representing the organization on a variety of matters
  • Support and advise manager, human resources and executives in legal aspects and respond to their requests for legal guidance and contract interpretation
  • Research legal issues and provide guidance on day to day legal activities
  • Anticipate and guard against legal risks
  • Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the company’s business and use that knowledge in providing guidance and counsel to internal clients
  • Perform job functions in accordance with company values and client Behaviors.
