Who We Are

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. As an organization that combines expertise developed from the daily practice of immigration law with a deep commitment to advocacy, RAICES is unique among immigration organizations. We provide a holistic approach to immigrants. RAICES not only assists immigrants in navigating through complicated immigration laws, but we also assist immigrants with social needs through case management and providing assistance with housing. RAICES advocates that justice is an inherent human right that should be awarded to everyone regardless of age, religion, country of origin, sexual orientation, or ability to pay for legal counsel.

COVID-19 Response

Protecting the health and safety of employees and clients remains essential. We currently practice social distancing and encourage masks in all public areas. RAICES is using a phased-in approach to return staff to resume in-office operations.

This position will require working remotely and in-office at the assigned work location. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.

PLEASE NOTE: All employees are assigned to an office location. The expectation is that you live within the area to commute to and from the office as business or client needs require.

Provides administrative support in a variety of functions to an individual, team, department or another group in an organization. Collects, reviews and analyzes data and prepares reports, charts, budgets, and other presentation materials. Responds to or routes routine inquiries from external or internal sources with own correspondence or other messaging. Schedules and coordinates meetings, travel, and other group activities. May be responsible for creating reports and distributing on a regular schedule. Has advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assume general administrative responsibilities including timekeeping, training of colleagues, case management and other responsibilities related to program compliance, requests for mileage reimbursement, program scheduling, tracking attendance for program staff, etc.;
  • Record and monitor program data to assist with budget compliance;
  • Maintain office supplies through inventory and regular orders;
  • Assist in mail responsibilities including receipt, logging, and distribution of office mail;
  • Assist in maintenance of office space and office equipment, including computers, copy
  • machines, phones;
  • Responsible for program and office event logistics, including travel coordination;
  • Assist program director with administrative research questions for growing program;
  • Assist in the creation, writing, proliferation and compliance of program manuals and policies;
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining their calendar, including meetings with stakeholders, RAICES colleagues and clients;
  • Any additional responsibilities assigned by the department in the attached supplement; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent, or training in secretarial skills, office an management and/or administrative studies;
  • 1-2 years of comparable administrative experience; and,
  • Any other minimum requirements specified by the department in the attached supplement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor Degree preferred;
  • 2 plus year experience in the legal field and/or non-profit field is preferred; and
  • 2 plus years experience in inventory and supplies and budget compliance;
