The Individual Life Insurance Product Solutions Team has an opening for a motivated and high achieving paralegal to join a dynamic and innovative product development team. The successful candidate will primarily support securities/insurance attorneys in the Individual Life Insurance Law Department and the Individual Life Insurance Product Solutions Team in the development and filing of all life insurance products with state insurance departments and the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission.

The role will support the filing and maintenance of variable universal life insurance registration statements and other required filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. This role will also support other product-related work including private placement contracts, fund participation agreements with variable product fund companies, plan of operations filings, and other projects as needed.

The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis in Newark, NJ or Hartford, CT. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:

  • Assist attorneys in completing legal transactions
  • Prepare documents and disclosures
  • Undertake legal research pertaining to life insurance topics including regulatory, product development, and customer issues
  • Collaborate with business leaders in Individual Life Insurance (ILI)

What you’ll need:

  • Experience with SEC filings under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Securities Act of 1933 (Forms N-6 and S-1) is helpful
  • Experience with state insurance department filings, particularly plan of operations and variable qualification
  • Stellar legal research and writing skills
  • Experience conducting 50-state surveys on insurance law matters and ability to synthesize research results across multiple jurisdictions are strongly preferred

It’d be a plus if you had:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate
  • Experience with Corporate Governance matters
  • Familiarity with content management systems

The salary range for this role is from $76,800.00 to $114,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
