Role Description USA UNDERWRITERS is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join its legal team. The position is full-time and on-site, located in Birmingham, MI. The Associate Corporate Counsel will manage a broad array of legal responsibilities across multiple business functions, including contract drafting and management, regulatory compliance, and data privacy and security. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to provide practical legal advice and effectively manage business risks.

Qualifications

• Excellent legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to reframe issues with a wider grasp of the insirance industry
• In-depth knowledge of insurance law, regulatory compliance, and claims management
• Ability to respond to subpoenas
• Experience in corporate governance
• Knowledge and experience in data privacy and security compliance and policy development
• Ability to effectively communicate legal concepts and provide practical advice to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and legal knowledge
• Ability to work independently and prioritize competing demands effectively
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the Michigan, Nevada, or Arizona Bar or willingness to obtain such admission within a reasonable timeframe
• Prior experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
