The Senior Paralegal supports the Legal/Compliance team by performing a variety of legal and/or legal support duties, including reviewing and responding to mortgage loan origination licensing inquiries, tracking and responding to subpoenas and other discovery requests, handling collection related matters for the company, reviewing and/or drafting legal contracts, conducting and summarizing legal research, coordinating projects involving the legal team and operational teams across all business functions, reviewing regulatory actions and court filings, reviewing and providing guidance on company marketing materials, and providing general support to in-house legal counsel.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Reviewing and responding to inquiries regarding mortgage loan origination licensing requirements
  • Reviewing, monitoring and responding to subpoenas and other discovery requests
  • Researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, legal articles and other relevant informational sources
  • Handling regulatory guideline issues that have legal nuances
  • Drafting written correspondence with outside counsel and other third-parties
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Drafting and/or editing legal documents
  • Providing training to legal assistants and paralegals
  • Assisting with issues related to NMLS and company licensing requirements
  • Review and prepare legal summaries concerning regulatory filings and client renewal requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate plus a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a Paralegal role (law firm or corporate setting)

  • Have experience performing legal research
  • Have knowledge of the litigation and subpoena process
  • Have knowledge of the contracting process and standard elements of a contract
  • Have a commitment to continuous business improvement
  • On-site attendance required
