We are looking for a passionate, business-savvy, and resourceful Privacy Counsel to join the legal team. In this role you will focus on privacy-related matters and advise internal stakeholders on privacy areas of legal negotiations for software sales. We are looking for someone who can provide legal advice and practical solutions. This position is a full time position, based in our Sunnyvale office.

 

As a Privacy Counsel in JFrog you will...

  • Negotiate data protection-related contract terms, in sales, procurement and other agreements.
  • Provide privacy subject matter expertise to our commercial attorneys and business partners as they negotiate a variety of agreements with our customers, partners and vendors.
  • Collaborate with the security and other teams on incident preparedness, investigation, communication, and remediation including acting as one of the main points of contact on incidents involving potential data disclosure.
  • Collaborate with cross-company teams such as GRC, R&D, sales, procurement, security and marketing on data protection inquiries and other privacy issues.
  • Create and provide playbooks, guides and training to other legal team members and cross-functional stakeholders on areas within the privacy purview to ensure JFrog has a consistent and clear position on applicable laws, regulations, and relevant self-regulatory frameworks.
  • Train legal team colleagues on all aspects of contract negotiation regarding data privacy.
  • Monitor domestic and data protection-related developments to ensure compliance with evolving requirements.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external-facing privacy and data use policies and notices that support and promote compliance with applicable privacy laws.
  • Assist with certification processes such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27701 and TISAX.
  • Support additional privacy programs as needed.

 

To be a Privacy Counsel in JFrog you need...

  • A JD and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • 5+ years experience in an in-house setting, including 3+ years relevant experience managing data privacy matters at a technology company or working with technology clients (SaaS experience preferred).
  • CIPP, CIPM preferred.
  • Experience advising on, and managing internal policies and procedures related to, privacy, data use, data security and privacy by design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, CPRA and familiarity with other local and global privacy laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience counseling a wide range of business partners on applicable privacy laws with proven ability to exercise sound and pragmatic legal and business judgment and to assess and communicate risks in a clear and actionable fashion.
  • A strong sense of self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • A team player attitude with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with, and gain the confidence of, cross-functional colleagues, as part of a global team overseeing JFrog’s privacy compliance.

 

WHAT JFROG CAN OFFER…

  • At JFrog, base salary is only one component of our compensation package.
  • This position has a base salary range between $165,000 to $180,000.  Base salary will be based on your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
  • This position also includes an equity package of restricted stock units (RSU).  In addition, JFrog employees are eligible to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

  • JFrog embraces hybrid work: 3 days in office / 2 days remote.
  • Additionally, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
