About The Role & Team

Embark on a meaningful journey as a Senior Product & Privacy Counsel with Amplitude's legal team. In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of shaping Amplitude's product and privacy program and collaborating closely with various business units to support product development. We're seeking an individual with stellar business judgment, capable of striking the right balance between legal considerations and business strategy. As a key member of our legal team, you'll engage cross-functionally across the organization, interfacing directly with our employees, customers, and partners, providing support across all aspects of the business.

 

As a Senior Product & Privacy Counsel, you will:

  • Serve as lead product and privacy counsel to multiple product teams and gain an in-depth understanding of Amplitude’s products and development processes.
  • Partner with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams, proactively supporting them throughout the product development life cycle and providing practical advice to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable global privacy and data security laws.
  • Offer legal advice on marketing campaigns and collateral, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and other relevant laws.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Amplitude’s global privacy program, crafting related policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Maintain expertise and provide counsel on global privacy laws and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and US State privacy laws.
  • Partner with commercial counsel to draft, review, and negotiate various customer and vendor agreements related to data privacy, including DPAs and BAAs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard privacy agreements and terms, scaling legal operations and processes.
  • Support the general needs of a growing legal team and business, contributing to the dynamic environment of a startup where managing multiple projects simultaneously is the norm.

 

You'll be a great addition to the team if you:

Experience and Certification:

  • Bring 6+ years of privacy/product counsel experience, ideally blending in-house and law firm expertise. 
  • JD and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification a plus.
  • Experience working at a B2B SaaS company preferred.
  • Demonstrate expertise in privacy and data protection issues, with a strong understanding of global privacy laws, including the CCPA and the GDPR.
  • Possess broad experience with product counseling, extending beyond privacy and data protection issues.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, managing ambiguity and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excel as a communicator, adept at conveying complex legal concepts in a human and approachable manner.
  • Be a collaborative team player with no ego, yet capable of working independently.

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Colorado. Colorado range: $181,000 - $272,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus)

Based on legislation in New York City, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in New York City. New York City salary range: $201,000 - $302,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus)

Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in San Francisco Bay Area of California. Salary range: $201,000 - $302,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus)

Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in California outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. California salary range: $181,000 - $272,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus)

Based on legislation in Washington state, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Washington state. Washington salary range: $181,000 - $272,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus)

Based on legislation in Washington state, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Washington only: unlimited PTO, 10 to 13 holidays annually (will vary), medical dental and vision PPO and CDHP plans. Finally, a company sponsored 401(k) retirement plan.
