ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY      

 The Americas Trade Compliance Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the legal international trade of software and goods in compliance with applicable government laws and regulations, with an emphasis on export and import regulations in the EU and across the EMEA region. This position will have direct report(s) and will have responsibility for oversight and mentoring of employees and/or contractors.        

Interface & Collaboration      

This role will report directly to the Global Director of Trade Compliance in Alameda, CA.  To be successful, a candidate must be able to work well within the existing Global Trade Compliance Team as well as cross-departmentally in order to achieve effective integration of trade compliance policies and procedures into other departmental workflows and policies.  The candidate is expected to professionally and respectfully interact with and influence across all levels of employees within the Company.      

Responsibilities       

  • Ensure that the company’s activities within the Americas are compliant with domestic and international import/customs, export, and sanctions requirements.
  • Support the Trade Team with maintenance and improvement of trade compliance program, procedures, and other compliance initiatives.
  • Act as primary person responsible for maintenance and oversight of Americas-based entities compliance programs.
  • Support day-to-day trade compliance procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable trade compliance laws and regulations for international transactions into, out of, or within the Americas region.
  • Serve as the resident expert on US and Canadian import/customs, export, and sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Conduct self-testing and audits of the company’s Americas operations with respect to trade compliance activity.
  • Analyze and interpret government regulations, policy and requirements for compliance as they relate to customs/import laws and regulations, export control laws and regulations, and sanctions from applicable countries within the Americas region.
  • Conduct training on trade compliance laws/regulations and applicable policies and procedures to Americas-based company associates and new hires.
  • Provide consultation to Americas-based business units, subsidiaries, and business function leadership on issues affecting the business, and resolve matters in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee and provide day-to-day guidance to company personnel on compliance related matters, including but not limited to; HTS classification, export control/dual-use classification, US/CA export license applications and usage, government reporting, customs valuation, country of origin determination, free trade agreement qualification, and customs brokerage management.
  • Consult with the Global Director of International Trade, Compliance Counsel, and outside counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

ABOUT YOU   

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of total trade compliance experience having at least 1 year of program development and management experience.
  • Extensive experience with US and/or Canadian export controls systems and government tools, export/import classification, and country of origin determination.
  • Extensive knowledge of DOC-BIS/EAR rules and government reporting requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of US munitions list regulations
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills (the ability to present trade compliance concepts in a technical environment and to persons at all levels).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong critical thinking skills, excellent problem analysis and solving skills; ability to quickly see upstream/downstream impact and risk points. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information frequently and appropriately
  • Capable of working independently in support of trade compliance objectives and working collaboratively both within the global trade compliance team as well as cross departmental/functional

Compensation                
The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $127,500 to $172,160 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
