What to Expect
 
The Counsel, Insurance will report to Tesla’s Associate General Counsel and provide legal counsel in connection with the development and implementation of insurance products and other growth initiatives. The role is responsible for the creation of company insurance policies, forms and notices and will be a critical partner and legal resource to a variety of internal business units, including product management, claims, billing, sales, marketing and customer service centers in support of the company’s growth initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts. The position will serve as a subject matter expert on insurance products, legal compliance, regulatory, market conduct exams, state legislation, policy contract matters and litigation exposure.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Draft commercial agreements, coverage forms and notices in support company objectives, product development initiatives, claims requests and regulatory changes
  • Play a strategic role in developing growth and other initiatives throughout the lifecycle of company projects
  • Assist with development of compliance strategies and objectives to achieve company goals and programs
  • Assist with the development and delivery of compliance training programs
  • Conduct legal research for internal business clients and provide clear, concise, accurate and actionable legal advice
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments to identify the potential impact to Tesla’s business
What You’ll Bring
  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school is required
  • At least 3 years of work experience from a top tier law firm
  • Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational skills and the proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining high quality and performance under pressure
  • Results-driven, has a strong sense of urgency and is able to drive results
  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where ROI matters and demands and priorities change rapidly
  • Able to effectively interact with, influence and collaborate with other members of the organization
  • Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful, and taking on additional responsibility
