Senior Paralegal - Corporate

This is a Senior Paralegal position within Kinder Morgan, Inc.’s corporate legal group, reporting to the Managing Counsel.  This is a position in Kinder Morgan’s headquarters office in Houston, Texas and is eligible to observe a hybrid work model.  Core responsibilities would include paralegal and administrative support as part of the corporate legal team, including the following:

 

  • Assist with the Corporate Secretary function, including:
    • all aspects of entity management for a large organization, including annual report filings and drafting and filing of corporate governance documentation, such as resolutions, written consents, minutes, and meeting notices;
    • preparation for public company board meetings;
    • helping treasury and commercial teams respond to know-your-customer inquiries;
  • Assist with various public company tasks, including SEC filing processes and audit procedures;
  • Perform reviews, with attorney supervision, of agreements such as parent guaranties, confidentiality agreements and letters of intent.
  • Prepare, revise and file various correspondence, reports, agreements.
  • Coordinate meetings, travel and presentation materials.
  • Help track department budgeting and expenses and code invoices for payment.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and filing.
  • Position level will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills and qualifications

 



Education and Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal formal training in certificate program preferred.
  • 5 years or more of experience as a corporate legal assistant/paralegal.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment across a wide range of matters, including matters that call for flexibility and developing new skills.  The candidate must have experience working with clients at all levels of a company, including management.
  • The candidate must be:
    • a team player with strong analytical skills, detail orientation and excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.
    • self-starting and comfortable working both independently, with limited supervision, and as a member of a team;
    • highly organized, dependable and able to meet deadlines;
    • able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in the dissemination of information;
    • able to prioritize numerous tasks, with accuracy, timeliness and good follow-through;
    • comfortable taking direction from supervisors; and
    • conscientious and able to keep required work schedules and follow work rules.
  • Excellent PC skills including Adobe, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook are a must.
  • Experience with Boardvantage, Workiva, DocuSign, Lawson, Ariba, LegalExchange, FileTrail, and iSearch are a plus.
