Associate Director, Contract Management & Outsourcing

Therapeutic Area Focus : Hematology/Oncology

Location: Remote - California Preferred

Canopy Life Sciences Position: Contract Associate Director, Contracts Management and Outsourcing Position type: Fulltime

Summary: Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Contracts Management and Outsourcing, the Associate Director will play a key role in achieving the goals and objectives of Contracts Management and Outsourcing. This role involves dedicated support in contract drafting, negotiation, training, database administration, and legal issue spotting for the client and affiliated companies. Additionally, the position entails providing support for vendor selection, management, and outsourcing across various departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage outsourced contracting activities, serving as the primary point of contact for problem-solving and escalation on assigned projects.
  • Foster positive, collaborative relationships with administrators, external vendors, and internal partners while proactively identifying the need for contracts and amendments.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with legal guidelines, corporate processes, and industry standards.
  • Conduct contract reviews and negotiations independently, with the possibility of engaging external legal counsel as directed.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by executive management or based on business needs.
  • Oversee and provide training on the Contracts Administration Database, ensuring task assignments and system integrity.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cycle time and enhancing efficiency in initiating clinical trial sites.
  • Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and meet collective goals.
  • Train other team members on departmental processes and activities as directed.
  • Assist study teams in the RFP process, vendor selection, and contract management.
  • Apply expertise to develop company objectives and achieve goals through innovative approaches.
  • Identify and implement effective methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects.

Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated individual with a keen eye for detail in contract review, analysis, and negotiation.
  • Strong analytical and business communication skills.
  • Proficient in drafting and negotiating complex vendor and clinical research contracts with knowledge of fallback language.
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Prior experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical Outsourcing.
  • Understanding of Clinical Trials and Drug Development phases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in multicultural settings.
  • Experience in contracts database management.
  • Bachelor's degree with five years of related experience, or Master's degree with three years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Paralegal Certification or extensive Biotech contracts management and negotiation experience preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in life sciences legal or contracts management field.
  • Direct communication and management experience with legal counsel preferred.
  • Familiarity with managing contracts in the Conga Contracts Database preferred.
  • Preferred ability to work at the Client's HQ in the San Francisco Bay Area three days a week.

Salary - $135,000 - $175,000 (Depending on Experience)
