This role will provide support to the Intellectual Property/Brand Protection team within the Legal department. It will be accountable for managing global IP docketing, assisting with trademark searches, and participating in special projects for the Intellectual Property/ Brand Protection team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review all incoming correspondence, docket and maintain deadlines related to all phases of intellectual property applications/registrations and enforcement matters, enter/clear deadlines, and upload correspondence.
  • Prepare comprehensive docket and status reports for circulation as needed among Intellectual Property team.
  • Closely monitor deadlines and follow-up with relevant team members.
  • Collaborate with team members to review processes and procedures, and to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Assist with the intake of new counsel and vendors.
  • Must be able to prioritize which matters need immediate attention.
  • Ability to learn function-specific software, such as the IP management database, trademark clearance tools, etc.
  • Perform ad-hoc special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in support role with trademark clearance and database management experience
  • An understanding of US and international trademark procedures is highly preferred, as well as intellectual property enforcement matters.
  • Excellent internet research skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Completes tasks in a thorough and accurate manner in a quick environment
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment while exercising good judgement to make decisions independently; also knows when to call out matters accordingly
  • Demonstrates research skills and knowledge of legal and business databases and other research sources
  • Ability to effectively set priorities, maintain an extensive docket, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrates flexibility and is a champion of change
  • Team player with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • Conducts all work in an ethical, honest, professional, and confidential manner
  • Strong PC skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Web TMS docketing system is preferred
  • Ability and willingness to take on additional duties as needed

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or legal studies and/or paralegal certificate preferred
