General Counsel’s Organization:

Where great legal minds influence global business strategy.

The General Counsel’s Organization of American Express is seeking a Manager & Counsel to support the Cybersecurity, Resiliency and Third-Party Risk Team within the Global Enterprise Services group. The role will involve providing legal support to technology, business, compliance and legal colleagues related to technology and resiliency risk management legal issues.  

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues around the world on cutting edge technology, cybersecurity, resiliency, and third-party risk management issues.

  • Provide global legal support and strategic advice to the technology risk and enterprise resilience functions, including supporting our information security team, global incident response functions, technology resilience team, and enterprise resilience team
  • Assist in the preparation for and response to cybersecurity incidents and operational outages, including supporting regulatory notification requirements
  • Advise on global cybersecurity and resiliency requirements and assist with lobbying efforts related to proposed legislation
  • Assist in the development of American Express strategy and policies related to technology, cybersecurity, resiliency, and incident response programs
  • Support regulatory examinations in the area of cybersecurity and resiliency
  • Draft and negotiate resiliency and cybersecurity contracting requirements on a global basis
  • Prepare and support the delivery of internal training on legal cybersecurity and resiliency issues
  • Support identification and implementation of process improvements

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. with eligibility to practice law in New York
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to work well in cross-functional team settings
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and apply global legal and policy requirements to complex business processes

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in digital products and emerging technology
  • Experience working with financial institutions and/or payment networks
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively
  • Self-motivated and intellectually curious

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
