Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel this position will be part of an outstanding legal team supporting the Retail division of Nutrien located in Loveland, Colorado. As a Senior Legal Contracts Manager with direct responsibility for the Retail division’s contracts and property functions, this position will be one of the primary points of contact for all such matters and will handle complex issues regarding such matters, including negotiating and drafting contracts and managing the Retail legal team’s contracts management system.

What You Will Do

  • Act as one of the primary contacts for the Contracts and Property Departments within the Legal Department
  • Draft and administer agreements related to real property matters and contracts of various types for a variety of internal business clients with minimal supervision
  • “First chair” negotiations of complex contracts closely with attorneys and counterparties
  • Care for and “own” contracts management database, including maintenance, updates and access of and to same by internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess contractual and commercial risk and effectively communicate these exposures to internal business clients, including executives and company decision makers
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, best practices, and training initiatives
  • Collaborate with supporting legal department team members, including managing and delegation of workflows and identifying training opportunities
  • Ensure contracts and real property matters are completed in accordance with company policies, including limits of authority policies, legal requirements and client specifications and timing
  • Work with various stakeholders to resolve issues, secure approvals, and ensure effective contract implementation
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to develop company policies or make modifications and updates to current policies
  • Perform trainings for the business on legal compliance requirements
  • Own a variety of high-visibility projects for the Legal Department
  • Assists legal counsel and business team on M&A transactions including reviewing NDAs, performing lien searches, drafting routine deal documents, obtaining internal signatures, managing closing checklists, closing the transaction, preparing final closing binders and other deal-related matters.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelors Degree
  • JD or Paralegal certificate preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience as a corporate paralegal or contracts manager, or 2+ years as a lawyer, in a legal environment, preferably in-house with a large global company or a law firm
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts with minimal supervision
  • High proficiency in reading comprehension of legal terms and conditions
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management software a plus
  • Excellent legal writing, critical thinking and analytical skills

  • A strong customer service focus for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills with the ability to build rapport and work successfully with others

  • Enjoys fast-paced environment and continual learning
  • Advanced MS Word and Adobe Pro skills, including experience with edit tracking software (such as, Workshare Compare)

Compensation & Benefits

$90,400 - $124,300 USD. This range is estimated for a Sr Legal Contracts Manager in Loveland, CO. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
