The Boeing Company is seeking a Legal Operations leader to join the Law Department within the Law and Global Compliance (L&GC) organization.

This position will lead and oversee day to day activities of a geographically dispersed staff of approximately 7. The Legal Operations team supports a U.S. and internationally based L&GC organization.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with executive leadership on preferred partner network program and processes; outside counsel relationship management and outside counsel performance management.
  • Oversee all aspects of outside counsel invoice processing implementation and adherence to billing guidelines using e-billing software. Partner with Finance to manage accrual process and support varying audits.
  • Coordinate with existing technology vendors and Information Technology & Digital Analytics (IT&DA) to support software versioning upgrades as necessary.
  • Leads selection of key legal vendors and supports negotiation of agreements
  • Oversee and develop knowledge and information management strategies that support the legal team’s objectives, including defining and driving consistent document management practices using marketplace technologies, as well as promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Oversee core eDiscovery team and third-party relationships. Drive process standardization and efficiencies while ensuring the highest quality of eDiscovery services to the organization.
  • Leverage data through metrics and dashboards to identify and provide valuable insights to leadership on opportunities and various initiatives
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the function, and provide expert advice on appropriate tools to eliminate and simplify
  • Support design and improvement of operational processes, their automation using the best technology, drive adoption and implementation of both processes and IT systems.
  • Support strategic planning and implementation for the Law Department especially in the area of Document Management
  • Recognize contributions of individuals and teams
  • Work with Law Department Business Operations Management to further cross-regional cooperation on initiatives and positively affect change adoption

A Successful Candidate Possesses The Following

  • Significant Legal Operations experience particularly in the areas of Outside Counsel Expense management, eBilling / matter management systems, document management systems, eDiscovery services and all realms of Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) .
  • External Vendor Management Procurement Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior executives
  • Experience working with Global Teams
  • Ability to drive and lead effective change management in a Global and matrix environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends or patterns in complicated data sets, synthesizing and communicating results
  • Results-driven with the ability to take initiative, handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities. Continuous-improvement mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation
  • Track record as a self-starter, self-motivated, having strong schedule commitment, and customer focus
  • Ability to meet deadlines while performing under pressure and managing multiple competing demands
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high change, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with individuals across multiple functions, levels, and locations
  • Experience with conflict management
  • Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and uphold the highest level of ethical behavior and integrity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience in a law firm or in-house counsel environment
  • Knowledge of M365 is a plus, Passport eBilling / Matter Management platform and ServiceNow
