What you'll do: 

  • Review, negotiate and draft contracts and transactional documentation related to global commercial real estate services, including commercial brokerage, project management, transaction management and consulting services.
  • Identify and assess legal and risk issues.
  • Develop understanding of key insurance products and risk management principles.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to executives, managers and commercial real estate professionals relating to activities within the Advisory Services business line. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of the law in areas of special interest to the business.
  • Conduct legal training sessions and assist in the preparation of training materials.
  • Coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project team.
  • Lead project teams and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower level employees.
  • Work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities. No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
  • May have responsibility for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating a work unit and/or group.
 
What you'll need:
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • J.D. from ABA accredited university. Member of applicable State Bar in good standing
  • 7 years of private practice and/or in-house experience. Some litigation background helpful, as well as experience in supervising outside counsel and monitoring litigation.
  • Excellent drafting skills required. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Prior experience in areas relevant to CBRE, such as brokerage law or other commerical real estate transacions is helpful! 
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups to take desired action.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sr Counsel, Transactions position is $200,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $230,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
