Part of Seagate’s legal department, the contracts team handles all transactions on behalf of Seagate, including sales, procurement, facilities, IT and supply contracts. We also provide support and advice for matters related to the acquisition and sale of goods and services. The contracts team prides itself on providing excellent support to our internal business partners.

 

About the role - you will:

  • Draft and negotiate contracts - primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial contracts supporting Seagate's Global operations
  • Work under the general supervision of a Seagate attorney to draft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents using Seagate standard templates
  • Partner with internal requestors to determine business requirements and negotiate contract terms based on Seagate’s business requirements
  • Review marketing, promotions, facilities, IT & general procurement contracts
  • Recognize non-standard terms and work with attorneys and relevant internal stakeholders to review and approve contract terms
  • Contract Management - independently manage contract workflow and approval processes to ensure that internal stakeholders review and approve contracts according to Seagate policies
  • Maintain a database of contracts and updates throughout the contract lifecycle, from requesting, drafting, and signing; through amending, renewing, terminating, and archiving
  • May share workload among other contract managers and paralegals to help balance the workload within the department
  • Work cross-functionally to support other areas of the legal department, such as compliance, dispute resolution, intellectual property, government relations, and labor law; and will help coordinate matters between Seagate attorneys and outside counsel

 

About you:

  • Use of independent judgment and creative problem solving
  • Thorough understanding of the implications of the work in protecting Seagate
  • Ability to make recommendations for sound business solutions
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple contracts, tasks, and projects
  • Excellent critical thinking skills 

 

Your experience includes:

  • Drafting, negotiating and managing a variety of commercial contracts, ranging from routine to complex
  • IT and “as a Service” contracts
  • Using Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) software tools
  • Interviewing internal clients to understand their business requirements
  • Converting business requirements into contractual requirements
  • Summarizing contracts and legal documents for internal review
  • Summarizing contracts for stakeholders
  • Reviewing internal policies with the ability to explain internal policies to stakeholders
  • Preparing general business reports and correspondence
  • Collaborating on cross-functional projects and teams to improve processes & procedures, and solving complex problems
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office software products

 

You might also have:

  • Experience using Apttus CLM
  • Experience negotiating information security contract language  

 

The estimated base salary range for this position: $89,800.00 - $130,900.00. Actual salary range is based on the regional labor market of the role in the geography in which the position is located based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Location:

Our first preference would be for the employee to work in a hybrid work structure based out of our Bloomington, MN site. Hybrid work expectations are a minimum of 1 day a week in the office.
