AFL is seeking a Corporate Paralegal to become an essential part of AFL’s dynamic legal team, with an opportunity to make a real impact on our organization's success. Your expertise and dedication will be valued as you contribute to legal research, document preparation, corporate compliance, and more.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for management of legal department queue and department efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
- Provide administrative support including document creation and organization.
- Provide litigation support including tracking service of process, sending document hold notices to offices, compiling document productions in discovery and for subpoenas.
- Track, manage and process outside counsel fees, as well as manage legal, compliance and real estate vendors.
- Support management of global real estate portfolio, as directed by attorneys.
- Interface and collaborate with corporate departments & teams, including accounting, tax, marketing, product, sales, safety/security and human resources.
- Act as liaison between company and outside counsel to ensure timely and effective legal representation with minimal disruption to company business.
- Administer contract requirements and manage contract management system.
- Perform legal and factual research in relevant fields of law, including telecommunications, corporate governance, information security, intellectual property and government contracting.
- Prepare legal training presentations.
- Perform document creation and proofreading of various legal documents, agreements, memoranda, contracts, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Assist and participate in M&A transactions and integration as needed.
- Administer and support department technology and software implementations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience as a paralegal, corporate in-house legal department experience a plus.
- Experience with commercial real estate and general corporate law a plus.
- Experience with litigation procedures and research techniques.
- Excellent writing and legal drafting skills.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience communicating with and supporting C-Suite executives.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision on day-to-day activities, maintaining a high degree of integrity.
- Experience with Legal Operations software such as Legal Tracker (eBilling tools), Practical Law (Westlaw), and NetDocuments (document management system) a plus.
