About Us

Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people. Dyson launched in the US in 2002, and since then operations have grown exponentially. Our US headquarters is based in Chicago's Fulton Market neighborhood. We also have employees working in field sales, our service centers, and in our growing number of Dyson Demo Stores across the country.

We're committed to our campus culture and want to have people collaborating, developing, and learning from each other. By having everyone on campus together, we have been able to nurture a fantastic social and dynamic environment.

About The Role

The Americas Legal team supports business stakeholders across North and South America on a wide range of subject matters, including employment, commercial, advertising and product liability. We are seeking an exceptional, collaborative, and enthusiastic junior attorney to provide a wide range of transactional and legal support to Dyson’s fast-growing business. As Corporate Counsel, you will report directly to the General Counsel, partner with various Dyson departments (including Human Resources, Sales, and B2B,) and support the Senior Employment Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel to provide a wide breath of legal services. Ideal candidates for this role will have in-house or law firm experience supporting US and international employment matters and commercial transactions, preferred MX and LATAM practice.

  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including retailer, supplier, and vendor agreements.
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with federal, state and local laws throughout the Americas Region.
  • Support all formal and informal employment and commercial challenges and related litigation.
  • Proactively identify arising risk areas and work with the business to develop risk mitigation solutions.
  • Develop expertise to provide expert and pragmatic advice on a wide range of legal issues, including risk/benefit analysis to support business action.
  • Assist on a variety of employment law matters.
  • Develop and deliver necessary legal training to the business.
  • Support the continuous improvement and updating of form agreements, legal processes and compliance practices.
  • Manage external counsel where appropriate, ensuring compliance with Dyson’s cost management processes.
  • Be a team player that is always ready to jump in and help on almost any issue.

About You:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience at a law firm or in-house required – a combination of law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be an attorney in good standing licensed to practice in Illinois.
  • Intellectual agility and confidence to learn quickly on the job and therefore deal with issues outside your current experience and skill set.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Good awareness of the role of Legal in business decisions and the ability to actively contribute in the taking of those decisions.
  • Evidence of being a self-starter who is good at identifying problems and proactively remedying them, and who demonstrates professionalism, pride and integrity in all aspects of your work.
  • An ability to work successfully with a minimum level of supervision in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • High degree of organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects when necessary.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
  • Highest degree of ethical standards.
