The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA or Boise, ID, or one of our main regional offices (Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Denver, CO, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, or Phoenix, AZ).

The salary range is $36.25 to $47.07 hourly. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

 

What you will be doing 

Independently research and analyze laws and regulations applicable to the Health & Pharmacy business in the areas of pharmacy regulatory compliance, Medicaid, Medicare, transactions, and provide capable support and advice on healthcare related issues.  

The paralegal may assist Pharmacy Compliance, Contracting, Marketing, Operations, and various other Teams with factual and legal research, document analysis, project management, drafting correspondences and contracts, and researching legislation and law changes of significance or impact to the business.  

 

Main responsibilities 

  • Both proactively and reactively perform legal and factual research to determine legal requirements and/or company compliance with regulations applicable to the business and provide appropriate advice to the business on such matters. 
  • Assists with healthcare compliance related issues. 
  • Assists with management of legal projects. 
  • Assists with contract management and reviews.   
  • Assists in drafting, distributing, and implementing policies and/or procedural guidance. 
  • Assists with marketing reviews. 
  • Receives, documents, and responds to customer complaints on compliance topics. 
  • Drafting documents including contracts and legal memoranda. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are searching for  

  • College degree or paralegal certificate or comparable years of applicable experience. Previous law firm experience preferred.   
  • Prior Health Law experience preferred. 
  • Proven planning and organization abilities. 
  • Demonstrated research and analysis abilities. 
  • Experience working with legal databases (Westlaw/LexisNexis) and internet-based legal resources.   
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel in and outside the company to accomplish desired goals. 
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment and software applications appropriate for the job, including Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Familiarity with company structure and operations preferred. 
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a professional manner. 
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. 
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. 
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday. 
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
