Summary

Provides legal counsel and advice to AutoZone and its subsidiaries to ensure its effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws; develops, advises, and participates with executive and senior management on the structure and negotiation of complex and significant business transactions; counsels and advises each level of management on a daily basis of appropriate structure for and approaches to business transactions; structures, negotiates, and drafts legal and financial documents, including contracts; reviews and analyzes laws and regulations affecting AutoZone's present and future business plans to effect the best business structure for legal compliance; reviews and edits for legal content all advertising and marketing material.

Responsibilities

  • Structures, negotiates, and drafts legal and financial documents for AutoZone's and its subsidiaries' business transactions, lawsuits, financial documents, and benefit programs.
  • Seeks defense or to initiate legal action to protect AutoZone's and its subsidiaries' interests including monitoring and enforcing contract rights, copyrights, and trademark rights throughout the United States and the world. Conducts research, interviews, confers with and directs outside counsel, and handles other details in preparation for AutoZone's and its subsidiaries' legal actions and their present and future business plans.
  • Advises all levels of management as to the structure, legal conformance, risk, and approaches to transactions relating to the distribution of ALLDATA products and the retention of the product by customers.
  • Reviews, edits legal content, and takes appropriate actions for copyright and trademark protection of all advertising, marketing, and public relations material of ALLDATA.
  • Advises all levels of management on the policies, risks, and actions taken in regard to ALLDATA employees including, but not limited to, termination, theft, benefits, work environment, and other employee issues.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate degree (Ph.D., Ed D, JD).
  • Minimum/no experience. Law
