About The Role

LendingClub’s Legal Department is seeking a talented and team-oriented attorney to join our team. You will work directly with legal team supporting LendingClub’s Marketplace, to support and grow our investor marketplace for our bank lending products. You will primarily be responsible to help support our consumer whole loan sale program and other loan sale and disposition transactions. To succeed in this role, you will anticipate the needs of a dynamic and innovative business, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to shifting priorities across multiple transactions and projects.

What You'll Do

  • Draft and negotiate agreements with a variety of institutional loan investors to support LendingClub’s growing investor marketplace, this primarily includes loan purchase agreements, loan servicing agreements and related documents
  • Create new form agreements to support new loan products and expand functionality of the marketplace
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice for all aspects of Marketplace group business, including investor marketplace operations, investor onboarding, managing form libraries, transaction management, and transaction monitoring, and answering questions from Marketplace group colleagues
  • Identify and work with Marketplace group operations team and other team members to create, maintain and improve processes, procedures, controls, and infrastructure to support LendingClub’s investor marketplace activities
  • Collaborate with team members to identify issues and ensure consistent interpretation and application of legal requirements across LendingClub’s investor marketplace
  • Become familiar with the legal and regulatory environment of the consumer loan products sold in our investor marketplace and the investor marketplace itself
  • Contribute to the Marketplace group and the Legal Department on other assignments, projects and work-streams you are requested to support


About You

 

  • 7+ years of experience, J.D. degree and a state bar membership in good standing
  • Combined law firm and/or in-house contracts, corporate transactional and/or securities experience
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills and technically savvy in office productivity applications and other applications
  • Ability to thrive in a lean environment, manage multiple transactions and tasks and proactively manage deadlines
  • Good communicator and a good listener
  • Enthusiastic and flexible and willing to pitch in and learn new areas of business and evolve
  • Adapt well to a rapidly changing business environment and thrive on innovation and change
  • Bring a practical approach to problem solving
  • Genuine interest in marketplace lending and fintech and excited to do something creative and new
  • Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines
  • Adapts style and uses persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the wider firm business

Work Location

San Francisco or Lehi

We are currently working a hybrid schedule and our teams are in-office Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Time Zone Requirements

Local hours (PT, MT)

Travel Requirements

Monthly/quarterly/as needed travel to the organization’s offices in San Francisco, New York, Boston or Lehi.

If you need to travel for work, LendingClub will cover your travel related expenses.

Compensation

The target base salary range for this position is 170,000-210,000. The position is also eligible to receive a bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings), equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges, other compensation and benefits offered are determined by role, experience level and location.
