Your Role: 

MilliporeSigma in Burlington, MA is hiring a Patent Paralegal.  In this role you will work with our internal patent group in multiple global sites, internal clients, and outside agents. You will be responsible for paralegal duties in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prosecution - Full range of paralegal duties related to US, PCT and foreign patent filings including preparing patent applications, formal documents, Information Disclosure Statements
  • Maintain proficiency with using the USPTO and PCT filing software applications
  • Coordinate filings with outside foreign and domestic agents, regional/national phase and EP validation filings
  • Docketing
  • Maintain docket to be current and accurate
  • Use docket to manage workload and provide support to responsible attorneys
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing file transfers
  • Contribute to group projects and assist in balancing the group workload to ensure completion of projects within established time frames and quality standards
  • Act as a key interface with inventors
  • Maintain order of documents in prosecution electronic files

 

Who You Are: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification
  • USPTO Filing Experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office, O365 (MS Word, Acrobat Adobe, Excel), PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint
  • Proficiency in spelling, grammar, proofreading and writing skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with IP databases and docketing systems
