THE POSITION

FIFA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Sanctions Compliance Manager. The successful candidate will be based in Miami, FL, and will play a crucial role in ensuring FIFA's compliance with international sanctions regulations. The position requires a combination of legal acumen, analytical skills, communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the international regulatory landscape to ensure FIFA's compliance with sanctions laws and mitigate associated risks effectively.

These Are Your Key Tasks

 

  • Act as subject matter expert on US, UK, EU, Swiss and UN sanctions compliance.
  • Develop and update the respective International Trade Controls/Sanctions policies and processes.
  • Provide sanctions advice and draft legal memos and opinions for internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Member Associations, Logistics, Travel, President, SG Office etc.). Provide confirmations on compliance of payments/shipments/services etc. with international sanctions.
  • Monitor fast-changing international trade control landscape and communicate updates to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Manage relationship with external counsel, national authorities (SECO, OFAC, etc.) and banking partners on sanctions compliance matters.
  • Perform extensive and in-depth due diligence research on companies and persons and provide guidance and recommendations to the requesting business partner.
  • Promote a compliance culture and awareness by advising staff and conducting trainings on relevant compliance topics, in particular on sanctions compliance.
  • Support in the continued development of FIFA’s compliance program and maintenance of other compliance policies and procedures.
  • Support the continuous development and implementation of FIFA’s risk management framework.
  • Support the delivery of stakeholder events, for example, governance workshops and the biennial FIFA Governance Summit with FIFA’s 211 member associations.
  • Execute ad-hoc projects and provide ad-hoc compliance advice as assigned.

The Specific Competencies We Require For This Position Are

 

  • University degree in a related field e.g., Law, Compliance (or alternatively Business Administration, Economics, Finance in connection with a professional certifications as mentioned below).
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications in international sanctions compliance (e.g., CAMS, CRCM, ICA) preferred.
  • 5+ years working experience in compliance with at least 3 years managing sanctions compliance, including US, UN, EU, UK and Swiss sanctions regimes, and third party screening.
  • Flexible thinking and capability to effectively engage with various stakeholders from various departments across the organisation, ensuring alignment with international trade control and sanctions compliance objectives;
  • Experience in preparing high-quality explanatory documents, work papers or memoranda and reports in a timely manner for senior management and independent committees.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong qualitative risk based thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and business acumen with sound professional judgement in areas of ambiguity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and establish trust, respect and confidence and ability to tailor messages to the specific audience.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to preventing, identifying, and resolving issues.
  • Eagerness to work in an international, fast-changing environment.
  • Hands-on, reliable and discreet personality with the flexibility of taking on tasks beyond the job description.

  • Fluency in English a must
  • Proficiency in one of the other FIFA languages (French, Spanish, German)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Extensive knowledge of sanctions screening/due diligence solutions
