THE JOB:
The Paralegal is responsible for assisting the Labor & Employment department Attorneys in the delivery of legal services to MGM Resorts International and its subsidiary organizations.
THE STARTING PAY: $25.00/hour.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Strong knowledge in multi-jurisdictional gaming regulatory matters, i.e. preparing gaming disclosure forms and individual and business license renewals; strong knowledge of the practice procedures of the various government agencies involved in Labor & Employment matters, i.e. EEOC, MDCR ,Labor Commission, NLRB; and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP).
- Draft correspondences, memorandum and prepare legal documents for review and approval by Department Attorneys and/or Department Leadership.
- Conduct client and witness interviews; organize and maintain case files.
- Manage and update various compliance and matter tracking systems and databases to assist in tracking and reporting on the various matters handled by the Department.
- Aid external business partners and legal counsel and collaborate with corporate and property business partners to review and respond to records requests, subpoenas, and related demands.
- Assist with transactions, including but not limited to: the preparation of initial licensing of employees and individual qualifiers by respective gaming regulators; remit payment to city and state agencies and assist with regulatory document preparation and central record filing; investigate complaints/claims filed against MGMRI and subsidiary organizations with federal and/or state agencies; assist with regulatory document preparation and filing, M&A transactions, and management of trademark portfolio.
- Reviews and reconciles invoices from law firms and processes through appropriate levels of authority.
- Tracks legal fee expenditures related to individual law firms, specific litigation and claims actions.
- Provide administrative support as needed; perform advanced, diversified and confidential administrative and paralegal duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, skill and knowledge of organizational policies and practices.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment commensurate with specialized legal skills and experience.
- Conduct legal research.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant Paralegal experience.
- Certificate of completion or degree from a paralegal certificate education program or other comparable post-secondary institution.
