Role

The Legal Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and legal integrity in company advertising and branding.  Primary responsibilities include reviewing advertising collateral including signage, print ads, social media posts, websites, email, and other promotional content, in addition to maintaining tracking spreadsheets and status reports for circulation.  You will support legal advertising and intellectual property counsel and collaborate closely with other cross-functional teams to ensure that our advertising meets company standards and guidelines and legal and regulatory requirements.       

Responsibilities 

• Review Advertising Materials: Conduct thorough reviews of advertising collateral to ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements including advertising laws, consumer protection regulations, intellectual property rights and marking, and jewelry industry-specific guidelines.  
• Monitoring and Reporting: Assists Commercial Counsel by tracking audit materials, compiling compliance reports, maintaining internal databases and trackers, updating playbooks, and creating training materials on legal requirements, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies for advertising and promotional activities.
• Intellectual Property Portfolio Management: Review incoming correspondence related to all phases of intellectual property searching, applications, registrations, and enforcement matters. Prepare first drafts of comprehensive status reports, meeting materials, and other updates to legal and business team members related to upcoming maintenance deadlines and quarterly intellectual property check-in meetings with business team members across various Signet brands.
• Assist in the searching and clearance of trademarks: Process incoming trademark search request forms and track the progress of search and risk assessments.
• Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.  

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5+ years of administrative, paralegal, and/or other legal role with a focus on advertising, marketing, or intellectual property experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or relevant legal certification preferred.
• Competency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously and with careful attention to detail and work processes.
