Description

Sunrise is one of the largest, private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations in the country dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization has been in existence for over 50 years, has over 2500 employees, and providers services to over 1,500 people across 8 states.

We are currently looking for a Compliance Officer to assist with overseeing all organizational compliance activities, functioning as an independent body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. In addition, the Compliance Officer ensures the Board of Directors, members of senior leadership, and all employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, licensing agencies, federal and state laws, that the organization’s policies and procedures are being followed and that behavior in the organization meets the organization’s Code of Conduct/Ethics and aligns with the organization’s mission and values.

Essential Duties Are The Following

  • Oversees and monitors the development/implementation of the organization’s compliance program. Provides guidance and assists in the identification, implementation and maintenance of agency compliance policies and procedures in coordination with the senior leadership team and legal counsel.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, and funding requirements; monitors for revisions to ensure organization adaptation and compliance.
  • Completes internal compliance reviews of organizational records to ensure compliance with applicable requirements, rules, laws, and licensure criteria.
  • Provides ongoing staff training to address specific concerns as it relates to quality of programs and services.
  • Reviews incident reports and incident data and monitors quality of documentation, notification and compliance with time frames.
  • Monitors and conducts periodic audits of documentation as it relates it relates to billing requirements and works with operational staff to prevent recoupments.
  • Establishes, and implements standard policies, procedures and best practices across the company to promote compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, business management nursing, legal studies or related field, or equivalent preferred. Legal degree or Master’s in public health, business management, related field, or equivalent, highly preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working directly with corporate compliance, legal or risk management and/or in a healthcare setting.
