Our client is seeking a Legal Analyst to work within their facilities located in Houston, TX for a 6-month contract.

Summary

 

  • his position will provide legal support to a team of commercial attorneys and legal analysts responsible for commercial transactions and projects, and will report to the Senior Manager, OPG Law Legal Operations and Services.
  • This contractor position requires a highly skilled Legal Analyst who is knowledgeable in commercial transactions and exhibits strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • The ideal candidate is an experienced Legal Analyst who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment, is technology proficient, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ideal candidate should also excel at solving problems and exhibits a high-level of initiative.

Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare and negotiate a variety of agreements including, but not limited to the following: Products and/or Services Agreements, Sales Agreements, Research Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Contract Amendments, all based on consultation with business partners and review by attorneys.
  • Work on regulatory, environmental and real property matters.
  • Engage with and provide recommendations (risk analysis) to business partners, contract administrators and attorneys on counterparty's changes to legal terms in agreements.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts in tax, finance, intellectual property, information risk management, compliance and insurance to integrate guidance into negotiations and agreements.
  • Analyze and summarize documents for review by business partners and attorneys.
  • Perform legal due diligence and legal research.
  • Work closely with business partners and attorneys to resolve a variety of day-to-day issues and support a broad range of commercial transactions and/or projects.
  • Recommend, develop and implement process improvements and simplification of tasks.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a paralegal.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and communicate legal issues and collaborate across broad functional and organizational lines (e.g., business partners, subject matter experts, attorneys and law professionals).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, editing and research skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain-high quality performance with competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written), collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter who is adept at working in a team environment and partnering with management, business partners, in-house counsel, outside counsel and staff.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and think independently on how to solve problems and offer solutions.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset.
  • Ability to commit to contributing your perspective in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership and accountability.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools and the ability to quickly learn new tools.

Preferred Qualification

 

  • Bachelors degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Regulatory, environmental and/or real property experience.
  • Law degree from an ABA-accredited school.
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, OneNote, Sway and Visio).
