Compensation - $225K - $350K with opportunity for equity.

Job Summary:

Privately held Boulder based technology company Spectra Logic is looking for an In-House General Counsel who will serve as the primary legal advisor for our company. This role includes providing legal counsel to the executive team, managing our company’s legal affairs, and overseeing human resources matters.

We are seeking a person that has a highly and hands on approach to business and legal risks, balancing the legal cost of effort against the probability and consequences of an adverse outcome. Ideally the candidate would have some business management experience and can team and work well with a broad range of members of our company.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Legal Risk Management: Identify and analyze legal risks and propose appropriate actions. Draft legal documents such as contracts, statements, agreements etc. Manager various corporate insurance policies.
  • Human Resources Oversight: Oversee human resources activities and ensure they comply with labor laws laws and regulations. Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Oversee Spectra’s intellectual properties and statutory filings.
  • Advise Spectra on litigation strategy.
  • Communicate with outside counsel, clients, and regulators.
  • Assist A/R in collections and have working knowledge of bankruptcy law.
  • Lead negotiations with outside parties.
  • Maintain a record of company legal documents.
  • Understanding international laws in employment, agency, and contract laws as well as GDPR and similar data protection laws.

What you need to bring to the table:

 

  • Experience at a law firm doing general corporate, commercial, and M&A work.
  • Experience doing in-house commercial legal work, including licensing and OEM/Distributor/Reseller agreements. Comfortable with understanding technical concepts as they relate to the business.
  • Experience overseeing human resources activities.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
  • Based locally with the ability to be onsite for 4 days per week.
  • Ability to collaboratively work with a broad range of Spectra employees, customers, suppliers, partners and build long-term relationships.
  • Demonstrable professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • Keen understanding of the budgetary management of a corporate legal department.
