Audubon is seeking an Associate General Counsel, under the direction of the General Counsel, to coordinate implementation of services, policies, and programs through the Legal staff. This position will assist and advise company managers about contract, compliance, employment and legal issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Key Areas of Responsibility will include:

  • The Associate General Counsel will have responsibility for legal support to Audubon procurement function. More specifically the role would include:
    • Advises leadership and Audubon team members on new and existing laws and legal rights that would impact the functionality of the business.
    • Oversee and assist with legal matters of the business as a whole
    • Reviews, evaluates and approves master and project specific contracts and other legal documents;
    • Assists the General Counsel with compliance and various legal matters;
    • Supports and coordinates implementation of company policies and processes;
    • Identifies emerging legal developments and key concerns related to the Associate General Counsel's area of subject matter responsibility;
    • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position:

  • A minimum of (5) years of experience in a law firm or in-house environment supporting commercial or industrial related activities, preferably with an emphasis on domestic and/or international construction or procurement projects;
  • Familiarity in construction, engineering and fabrication contracts and procurement of materials and equipment;
  • Client counseling and negotiation experience as legal practitioner;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team sharing expertise;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to influence and provide training to business stakeholders;
  • Demonstrates success in developing and delivering new projects and initiatives;
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Adobe and other related computer programs.

Essential Education

  • JD Degree from an accredited US law school;
  • A valid, active license to practice law in the state of Texas, or any state in the US.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment in Houston, TX;
  • Hybrid schedule available;
  • Some travel as needed to manage multiple offices and sites.
