About The Role

As a Global Trade and Regulatory Counsel, you will provide legal support to HARMAN’s business on a variety of complex matters related to global trade regulations and compliance. You will play a key role in advising our organization on legal compliance matters, developing compliance strategies, and ensuring that our business operations adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements.

Your Team

This position will report to the Vice President, Regulatory Compliance & Sustainability, and has no direct reports. This position will manage outside counsel in connection with certain work.

What You Will Do

  • Provide legal advice on federal, state, and local regulatory requirements relevant to our business including, but not limited to antitrust, sanctions, export controls, tariffs, customs, trade agreements, UFLPA, OECD, conflict minerals, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure the company operates in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of new laws and regulations in our industry; analyze potential impacts on the company's business operations.
  • Collaborate with different divisions and functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across all aspects of the business.
  • Provide training to company employees on compliance-related matters.
  • Assist in the development of compliance risk management strategies.
  • Monitor, review and update policies, tools and processes to support and improve compliance;
  • Conduct risk assessments and general reports for compliance meetings;
  • Monitor, update and identify targeted training and communications on regulatory compliance matters across HARMAN’s business;
  • Provide legal advice concerning global trade compliance matters, including export controls,
  • Review and investigate potential regulatory compliance issues and advise on remediation efforts, such as recommending business process improvements, reviewing submissions to governmental agencies, and coordinating with outside counsel; and
  • Partner with Internal Audit function to align regulatory compliance policies and processes

What You Need

  • Law degree from a law school in the United States
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of related experience, ideally in a combination of law firm and corporate settings with a focus on compliance and regulatory matters
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the United States and a member of the bar in any state or the District of Columbia in good standing
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to liaise with all areas of the business
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to shifting priorities
