We are currently seeking an Assistant Director, Contracts, reporting directly to the Director, Contracts Management, to help oversee the Contracts Department’s processing of commercial (U.S. and non-U.S.) and government (U.S. and non-U.S.) contracts with customers, distributors, resellers and authorized service providers.  The Assistant Director, Contracts ensures the company’s proposals and contracts are reviewed, approved, executed and stored in accordance with corporate policies and standard operating procedures.  The Assistant Director, Contracts is responsible for the daily assignment of contract review actions to members of the Contracts Department, managing workload levels globally among department staff members, and directly supervising Commercial Contracts Managers located in the U.S.  The candidate must have business skills/expertise in analysis of complex bid and proposal tenders, and the ability to interact with customers and lead contract negotiations.  Additionally, the candidate must have experience managing subordinate Contracts Managers and/or Contracts Administrators. The candidate will interact regularly with senior and executive management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers and therefore must be able to communicate effectively.


Responsibilities
  • Support the Bids and Proposals team in providing contract analysis and review of solicitations, bids and tenders.
  • Review of contractual documents and negotiation of terms and conditions. Analyze contractual requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure contract review, approval and execution in accordance with corporate policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide expert support services to business units including, but not limited to, the application of contract clauses and regulations.
  • Work with business stakeholders, functional counterparts, and customers to resolve contractual issues.
  • Communicate contract policy and practice to internal business teams.
  • Act as custodian of contractual records for assigned contracts.
  • Prepare and administer correspondence, negotiation memoranda, supporting documents, and contract documentation to ensure timely and coordinated submittal.
  • Interact daily with Senior and Executive Management, Program Managers, and other operational representatives.
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to members of Contracts Department staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration or related field.
  • 10+ years of contract administration and contract management experience, including a full range of commercial (U.S. and non-U.S.) and government (U.S. and non-U.S.) contract types.
  • Proven experience supervising staff at the manager level.
  • Must have experience in solicitation analysis, risk assessment, contract negotiation, and issue resolution.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Thorough knowledge of all appropriate ethical standards regarding contracting actions.
  • Experience working with a Product Manufacturing Company desired.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of commercial contract terms and conditions.
  • Must have the ability to make sound business judgments, handle multiple contractual activities with a short turnaround time, and work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented with the ability to communicate effectively, solve problems and create trusting relationships with both internal and external clients in a quick turnaround environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing urgencies.
  • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with different time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet business needs; travel required <5%.
