Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Counsel, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) & Licensing and Permits in Regulatory & Specialty Legal counsels these highly-regulated areas of the U.S. business at Walmart. The Counsel, ATF & Licensing is a cross-functional role working closely with multiple stakeholder groups across the company, such as Compliance, Merchandising, and Walmart Connect, to minimize regulatory and legal risk associated with the ATF business. This role will support subject matter expertise on ATF & Licensing legal issues.

What You'll Do

Taking a holistic approach in identifying and mitigating regulatory risks associated with the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and firearm products
Interpreting state licensing requirements to support new business initiatives
Providing legal advice to merchants, compliance, and operators on a wide range of matters, especially related to the sale of alcohol
Advising business leaders with respect to legal issues and risk management concerning the sale and delivery of alcohol and tobacco and the development and implementation of company policies, as well as licensing strategies for sale of certain products
Working with multiple teams in various subject areas to set up processes that preserve regulatory compliance while also meeting business needs
Supporting the ATF compliance team to respond to changes in federal and state regulation regarding the sale of firearms and updating policies accordingly
Supporting the Licensing & Permits compliance team to interpret state law requirements
Escalating concerns based on risk to the company and recommending a plan of action for resolution and risk mitigation

What You'll Bring

You acted as a subject matter expert in federal or state ATF laws
You have experience working on alcohol advertising from a regulatory perspective
You have experience working with legal and compliance stakeholders
You're process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness
You have excellent communication and collaboration skills
You have experience working in large cross-functional teams

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional Compensation Includes Annual Or Quarterly Performance Bonuses.
